Chronic Pain & Maladaptive Neuroplasticity
Persistent pain can involve changes in how the nervous system processes nociceptive signals, attention, expectation and movement. But it is not established that maladaptive plasticity causes chronic pain in general, the tools used to demonstrate central sensitization in people are contested, and pain remains a biological, psychological and social experience rather than a brain error to be corrected.
