Emotional vocabulary
Emotional granularity - the ability to distinguish between closely related feelings - is associated in observational and experience-sampling research with more varied regulation strategies and less reliance on blunt coping [1][2]. The evidence is largely correlational, so building vocabulary is a plausible route into it rather than a demonstrated cause of better regulation.
