Awe, Wonder and the Small Self
Awe is the response to something vast that does not fit existing mental frameworks. Studies associate awe experiences with a diminished sense of self-importance, expanded perceived time, greater generosity and reduced self-focused rumination, though the field is young and effects are mostly short-term.
