Exercise and brain health
Regular physical activity is one of the most consistently supported behaviours for cognition. Aerobic exercise is associated with better attention and executive function in the hours and weeks after activity, and with lower dementia risk in cohort studies. Mechanistic work points to blood flow, growth factors such as BDNF, and sleep quality.
